In a sixteenth century fortress
This luxurious hotel, the Pousada de Cascais, Cidadela Historic Hotel & Art District, is set within the walls of the historical fortress of the emblematic 16th century Citadel of Cascais in the town's center. It was elected by Condé Nast Traveller as ‘Hot Property’ and recommended by the NY Times and the Wall Street Journal.
It is a unique place where ancient meets modern. Some of the rooms are dramatically set into the former barracks, while others, more modern, enjoy spectacular views to the sea or over the interior plazas, turning each stay into a unique experience.
The Pousada de Cascais, Cidadela Historic Hotel & Art District, is a world in itself. It features restaurants, bars, indoor pool, wellness center, business center and ample meeting and conference facilities and now includes an Art District, making it the first hotel in Europe with a project of this nature.
It goes without saying that all the rooms have air conditioning, multi channel LCD televisions, wi-fi, safes, bathrobes and many other comforts.
The Pousada is close to the center of Cascais, beaches, shopping areas, parks and museums. See here the in & out of the Pousada de Cascais, where you will find all the information necessary to make your stay at the Pousada de Cascais a unique one.
The Pousada is near the casino at Estoril, the surfer’s paradise at Guincho, and of course Portugal’s capital city, Lisbon.
The Pousada de Cascais is a member of "The Leading Hotels of the World," meaning that it ranks amongst the most luxurious hotels in the world.
The striking new Pousada is the creation of architects Gonçalo Byrne and David Sinclair who were strictly committed to the goal of preserving the Pousadas history while respecting environmental sustainability, the heritage value of the site, and the natural beauty of its surroundings.

Taberna da Praça
The Taberna da Praça restaurant in Praça das Armas square serves typical Portuguese cuisine snacks made with national products.
Appetizers are one of the most wholesome traditions of the Portuguese society.
At gatherings in the taverns or in the gardens, sitting around a table and enjoying the company of others is one of the best ways to pass time.
This is a concept that promotes Portuguese regional cuisine served in small doses, in tasting sessions which revisit our gustatory memory and comply with the seasons and time.
The Taberna da Praça snack is one of the most authentic there is in Portugal, in an informal environment where everyone can eat and feel good.
The Square Tavern aims, above all, to rehabilitate the Tertullian and bohemian spirit of the Portuguese people.
We all like to go out for a drink, have a snack, be with our friends, and talk about life in a friendly, relaxed and unpretentious environment.
